No Paper Buy/Sell premium
Howdy folks, the cold AM rain got me inside, but there's a great pot of leftover turkey noodle soup waiting for me... and the GIM forums.
OFF PAPER sales.. how much of a premium is realistic?? 20%-50% for a weapon that's legal in your state...and of course not stolen etc. etc.?? And consider the current surge in gun sales in all the popular military long guns and hand guns. For example..a clean Norinco SKS from the 80's now priced at 400+ bucks and then add a no paper premium. Then reverse this into a want to buy situation if you could absolutely know and trust the seller. Just musing with soup and thanks for any input. |

Tech Guy, Your post wasn't OT, your precautions were just a smart "cover your ass No paper transaction".

Re: No Paper Buy/Sell premium
I have always been astounded when I hear about people selling firearms "on the back of a dirt road" for 350 bucks
I would be crapping my knickers that this sale is gonna come back to" haunt me" I can see a pawn shop....... but a dirt road deal?? Dam. T |
Re: No Paper Buy/Sell premium
Tech guy, I have about the same simple supply/inventory and thanks for your file offer.
TA..You have to be well connected and trusted before any "back road" sale could happen around here. A side note to this thread is that I remember in the "way back" the local/weekly penny shopper ad paper had many ads of Guns for sale and always had plenty of new listings every week They were easy FTF transactions if you knew your shit and fit in. Those simple little ads had some great deals. All gone now. Ahh well. |
Re: No Paper Buy/Sell premium
You can sell a firearm to a felon, as long as you do not have any reasonable expectation to know that he is a felon. If you ask the person, and they tell you they aren't, then whats the big deal? Thats the way the law works, anyways.
Besides, what part of "shall not be infringed" excludes felons? |

Re: No Paper Buy/Sell premium
I prefer buying guns with cash from individuals.
As for selling, I get a copy of the DL # It's not hard - just keep your own records in lieu of the Gov't doing it and having tracking ability. |

But in a Hardees parking lot... A hotel parking lot... A KFC parking lot.... A Shoneys parking lot.... On the side of a paved road.... In someones backyard... In the parking lot at my wifes work.... I have sold guns in similar locations too... Freedom,it is a wonderful thing. |

I've never sold a gun to someone and written down their info. I certainly wouldn't give my personal info to some stranger either. What kind of rocket scientist gives out their info to a stranger they just gave/sold a gun too? Seriously! The law in my state (and when I lived in Florida) was clear. There is NO requirement to ask for identification or get/provide a bill of sale. PERIOD. Recently I sold a gun at a gun show a pistol, I did something I don't normally do and I asked him if would mine showing me his IN drivers license. He looked a bit odd and I quickly said "just want to make sure you are a IN resident, I don't need to hold it or write anything down". He said, "oh yeah, no problem" he flashed his ID and without asking even showed his carry license. Never done it before, doubt I'll do it again. I just felt like I was being "watched" while doing the sale. Paranoid I guess. For all you people who think writing down info or a bill of sale will amount to a hill of beans if teh gun your sold is used in crime, get over it. History shows the people who have no bill of sale vs a bill of sale fare no better (or worse) than the other group. If you really feel that scared over private sales, just sell it to a dealer. As to a "premium" for a no paper sale, never heard of such a thing. I wouldn't pay more, or less, for a gun from a private individual over a dealer. |
